If you know of a company that offers these types of services I would recommend checking them out before diving into yet another software package.

They don't do this for free but they do at least offer training. Our distributor offers inspection and programming services so these guys are in the software all the time and know what is needed to create the necessary structure for a measurement study or easy reporting in general. We have found that we can get more support for this type of thing from our gage system/software distributor than from Hexagon, B&S, or Minitab. Which is not to say that you can't back into a good MSA once you have the data. Like any good MSA it should be well planned out before even beginning to take measurements. Setting up the respective text fields to identify part numbers, operators, feature names and such in PC-DMIS helps immensely. Here again though, it requires that the data be entered in properly from the beginning. Of course if you really dig into the capability of DataPage you will find that it can do gage studies for you. This text file can be imported easily into either Excel or Minitab. Once we have measurement data in DataPage it is no trouble at all to create a report with the specific columns and records needed and save it to a tab-delimited text file. However it does require proper setup of the part program in PC-DMIS to send the correct stats to DataPage. The company I work for uses DataPage and DataPage+ for this sort of thing. We may just end up with ChartRunner or Infinity Proficient. (It?s like they don?t want to play in the same sandbox!)Įverybody, please give your opinion. BTW, Datapage doesn't work even with B&S Technical help. Oddly, our brainiacs and connections don't know how do it either. We have tried Macros in PCDMIS and EXCEL and they require many hoops to be jumped through to get it ready for Minitab let alone the simpler task of filling out the AIAG Dimensional sheet. To get a clean "dimensional data" only sheet created so that it can be put into columns in Minitab for simple Cpk/Ppk SPC. To populate the AIAG Dimensional sheet without having to first delete the H/L Dev etc. I only want all the measurements taken for each print dimension for the last 40 parts we ran. Both Wilcox and Minitab are stymied by this seemingly simple problem: Say for example that our B&S CMM with 2013 software does 40 first pieces in a year (were a small run job shop), using the PCDMIS2EXCEL button only creates an excel version of the printed copy with.
